I am an American working in China and continue having issues with the online registration to view my account. The page wants me to quit and install a security patch…..I hve all the security patches and updates I can get….but still it’s being stupid…….like the lack of English in an International Bank that I continually see.
I also made a wire transfer from a foreign bank and it’s now been 4 days and the BOC says they don’t have it, yet my bank confirmed the BOC did receive it.
So much for 21st. Century Banking ! Banking in China is like American banking was in the 1950′s……very slow and everyone needs to know all the reasons why this and why that instead of just doing their job……much of what goes on in personal banking they have no business knowing….they just need to push the paper and make it happen today, not next week !!!

Hi, I am in overseas and would like to talk to customer service regarding my account in BOC. For some reason 95566 did not work for me. Is there another number I can call? thanks.

I had an account with Bank of China. I opened it in Harbin and wasn’t able to do anything other than use the ATM in any other city in China. I’ve had long sessions with managers about being able to manage my account in Beijing and Haikou, and all I get is the word “can’t”. So I named them the “Can’t Bank of China” I can’t manage my account, I can’t fix personal information, I couldn’t even add money from a teller. I had to do it through an ATM.
Any options were obsolete other than ATM’s. What they said was that the Bank of China system was not linked from city to city. We even called the branch in which I opened it and they couldn’t help me. Probably because, it was too much trouble to look through all the shoe boxes, where they kept peoples personal information. I think my account is still open with a few quay in it. I haven’t used them in three years and probably never will. Now I’ve got an account with evey major bank except Bank of China.So I testing them all out.

Last year I picked up an international money transfer at your Chaoyangmen branch in Beijing. Not only did it take an hour and I almost missed my flight but the mongoloids working there tried to steal my money. I had all the information and they kept saying it was wrong. I could see them scheming how they would split the money. Disgusting workers at all Bank if China branches in Beijing- rude, ignorant and lazy. I didn’t get my money until I started shouting that they were thieves in Chinese. It’s sad that getting angry is the only way to get things done in China. Being nice and civilized does nothing. I barely had time to get my bag and get to the airport. Shame on you, Bank of China! I now use China Merchants Bank which is better in every way. Getting money sent there is no problem they never try to steal it. Plus the tellers are faster and aren’t rude.

B of C are easily the worst bank I have ever dealt with, I lost my bank card 6 days ago and I still havent been able to cancel the card and order another one.
After numerous trips to the bank with Chinese people to help me, they are still unprepared to do anything, because my account was opened in Chengdu, where as I am currently in Chongqing.
To get anything done I must have my old passport sent over from the UK, as this corresponds with the number my account was opened with and take this to Chengdu.
The member of staff in the branch was shouting at my Chinese friend who was trying to help me.
They are a shambles…
I’ve since moved to China Construction, but I’m no further forward with this account almost 1 week on!

Bank Of China has the WORST customer service.
I recently reported a lost credit card from BOC.
BOC said they would issue me with a new card.
1) The new card NEVER arrived via EMS.
2) I made multiple calls to 95566 to enquire about the status of my account and the (long awaited) arrival of my new card.
3) For 2 weeks, every day, I called to ask about the status as above.
4) 15 days later, SOMEONE FINALL ADMITTED THAT THE NEW CARD WAS NEVER ISSUED BECAUSE MY NAME IS TOO LONG. WHAT?!?!?! Why hasn’t anyone from BOC contact ME to enquire/update me about this.
5) Now I must wait another UNDISCLOSED amount of time for YET ANOTHER card to be issued.
6) Bank Of China has TERRIBLE communication with customers, the English service can barely be understood or understand the conversation.
7) On issuing my new card I will withdraw all my money and close the account.
8) My company will no longer use BOC as, honestly, I cannot trust them with finances and customer service.
Overall, one of the worst banks I’ve ever had the misfortune of *NOT* being in contact with.
The WORST customer service in China…and that’s saying a LOT!
